I have just finished reading my pre-release copy of John Stott's excellent little book "The Radical Disciple: Some Neglected Aspects of our Calling" (due out this May). I'll be working on a full review soon but some pithy quotes ought to keep us occupied till then.
Stott concludes his book with the observation that we are education beyond our level of obedience. "Basic to all discipleship is our resolve not only to address Jesus with polite titles but to follow his teaching and obey his commands".
Or as Martyn Loyd-Jones once wrote: "I am more and more convinced that most people get into trouble in the living of the Christian life because of their molly-coddling of themselves spiritually" (from his commentary on Romans - an exposition of Chapter 6:19, p. 264)
